Describe your experience with Florida Fertility Institute.
Be prepared for two things if you can:
1.) It is an expensive process in every way (mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, etc), and if you are not careful, it can strain you and your relationship, and
2.) No matter how excellent the clinic is, there i still a chance you will be unsuccessful. Just try to do what is expected of you and keep a positive attitude.
During treatment, did you feel like you were treated like a number or a human?
While he was very thorough and concise, we always felt like he took a legitimate interest in our feelings and while he was always very transparent and realistic when setting expectations, it was clear that he was empathetic to both the emotional and financial stress the process has on a family. There was never a time where we did not feel he really cared about our success or the way we felt when we left the clinic for the day. He is an excellent doctor and a wonderful person at the same time - and you don't experience that very often.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff.
My wife was at many more of these appointments than I was as I was working, but on the limited number of appointments I attended, everyone on the staff was knowledgeable and pleasant.
How was your experience with Mark Sanchez?
As previously stated, he was an excellent communicator, very compassionate and empathetic, extremely thorough about every step of the process and even things we would not thing to anticipate, and (we felt) legitimately concerned about us a s people and our success with IVF. A consummate professional in every way.
What one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Sanchez?
Listen to what he says, follow his instructions, and trust the process.
Describe the protocols Mark Sanchez used in your cycles and their degree of success.
My wife actually became pregnant from an embryo we had frozen, as the initial transfer was unsuccessful. Of course, the second time around she was much more conscientious about following instructions even more closely, like no activity immediately following the transfer. Dr. Sanchez was very realistic about protocols and customized our treatment plan to something that fits my wife's lifestyle, as she is very athletic and in good shape. Most of the strategies, though, were not unlike what you would read other people going through IVF experience (injections at the same time every night, lower certain activities, increase in Folic Acid, etc.).
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Sanchez.
Between prescriptions & injections, one round of IUI, one egg retrieval, two transfers (one 5 day embryos, one cryo), and a year's worth of appointments, we spent somewhere between $30,000-$40,000
